November 2022 - IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BASE

Welcome to the first newsletter of ANNA'S COMPOSER DATABASE!

I am so happy that you are here.

I am a conductor, music educator, and former professional violin/violist. My passion is to explore and perform fabulous music by historically underrepresented composers. It has been a joy to find great music that audiences love and appreciate and musicians love to perform. The goal of this database is to be your go to resource for high school, university, community and professional orchestras to find excellent diverse compositions to perform for your audience and musicians. There is so much great music to discover!

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BASE newsletter includes who I am listening to this month, which includes:

  • COMPOSER OF THE MONTH (Composer highlights with three compositions to check out)

  • OVERTURE (My favorite concert starter for the month)

  • HISTORICAL SCORE or COMPOSITION OF THE MONTH (A favorite historical composer)

  • LET'S DO A REPEAT (Link to a diverse concert performance)

  • CODA (Interesting research/podcasts you may enjoy)

I hope you enjoy!

"Music is powerful. It can bridge divides among cultures and life experiences, and allow us to gain a more comprehensive view of the world. It can make us more empathetic and understanding of one another, to share the joy and sadness, the hope and frustration, the celebrations and sufferings of humanity across time and place." – Manjia (Ally) Chen

There is a FREE SEARCH option (Here you can search by composer's name or composition title). Results include composition titles and basic information.

For a small monthly fee (about the cost of a good cup of coffee) you can subscribe to the ADVANCED SEARCH AND you can try it out FREE for one month. This comprehensive search includes: specific instrumentation, demographics, publishing links, performance/sound links, score links (when available), tags words, and more.
